I just just finished Emancipating Andie and I was in love. I was worried with the whole 3-way, love triangle thing. So many people are doing that. But I loved it. They didnt go over any boundaries. It was tastefully done and I really enjoyed it. I loved CHase, loved how he made Angie open up and try new things. I loved the first meeting in the cellar. He cracked me up, well he made me laugh pretty much the entire book. I loved the dancing scene at the wedding, I loved the scene where he thought something happened to her. I just loved this book, period. It was very well done and it was beautiful, intense. It had everything I would of hoped it did and more. Except a wedding and cute little Chase babies ;-) But hopefully one day there will be more. I loved the ending, it was a beautiful way to show the growth of Andie. Well done Priscilla, beautiful story. Must read all!!Tags : Emancipating Andie [Priscilla Glenn] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Emancipating Andie Priscilla Glenn 9781481988865 Books Reviews
5 of the best stars I can find!
Priscilla Glenn, are you inside my head? I can't believe how much I could relate to this book!
This book had all of the elements I that love in a good book. My favorite reads are the self-discovery and slow character building romances. Not to mention a good road trip! I love a good road trip! I am ecstatic to be able to say that Emancipating Andie is now on that favorite list right beside The Edge of Never, The Sea of Tranquility, and Hopeless. I didn't expect it to blow me away like it did, but, man, was I pleasantly surprised!
In my opinion, slow character building romances are the best kinds of stories. I always feel like I get more emotionally attached and wrapped up in the characters when the story builds gradually. The key to it is to make sure it does this without allowing me get bored. Priscilla Glenn did just that! I adored Andie and Chase. She managed angst without having annoying characters that made annoying decisions. Such a beautiful read.
So, the story starts out while Andie is about to go on a second date with her soon-to-be boyfriend Colin. They go to a party and that's when Andie accidentally gets herself locked in a wine cellar with Chase. She makes a rash judgement and decides she doesn't like him right off the bat. When she did that, I got a little worried. I didn't understand what her problem was, because he seemed nice enough to me. I thought for sure she was going to drive me crazy throughout the book with irrational decisions. I was wrong! She turned out to be a solid female character. The writing allowed us to get inside her head a little bit to see where she was coming from. She always wanted to take the safe route due to something that happened to her in the past. Also, her think-with-your-head-not-your-heart-mother was no help!
"Love with your head, and you'll be safe." WORST. ADVICE. EVER.
Anyways, she gets out of the wine cellar. Life goes on. Andie falls into a routine, safe, passionless relationship with Colin and the story picks up seventeen months later in Chapter 2. One of Colin's friends is getting married and Andie and Chase end up traveling together to the wedding. Let me just say, Colin was a good guy and I did feel bad for him at times. Rest assured though, the story doesn't really step on any toes and the way things play out will sit well with your heart.
On the trip together, Chase helps bring Andie out of shell and she begins to show him the real Andie. He gets her to do things she would normally never do...
Their conversations were funny and adorable. While they were having some of their conversations I was thinking "Ok, this is creepy." It was creepy because I felt like they were inside my head. They had one conversation about cuss words. I talk about this all the time.Who says that's a bad word? Why is it a bad word? I've never gotten that concept either! Another issue they talked about that I loved (and a pet peeve of mine)......don't assume you know what's best for everyone else. You are not them and you are not inside their head!
"What makes you happy might not make that woman over there happy. But human beings have a terrible habit of thinking they know what's best for each other."
It becomes obvious about halfway through the trip that these two have a pretty intense connection with each other. Neither of them know what to do about it though and neither of them want to hurt Colin. Chase ends up deciding that it's probably best for him to distance himself from Andie. They run in the same crowd though so it was inevitable that they would run into each other. There is this one scene were he is showing her how to play the piano and it's the sweetest scene ever. It was the scene that led to the turning point in the story.
Without giving anything away, Andie and Chase are forced to face their feelings after their trip. Their main obstacle is Colin. I loved the way that played out. The story could have easily taken a more rotten route in that regard and I was pleased with the way it unraveled. It's not a cakewalk though.
"I don't want you to act like an ***....And I don't want to be happy that you're here right now... And I don't want to love the way you smell....And I don't want to fee this way when you hold me..And I don't want to be with you anymore...Did you hear me? I don't want to be with you anymore."
I just loved these two together. Chase was had my heart beating of my chest with his charm. Their scenes together towards the end....sigh....so good!
"And I can absolutely promise you that I don't think this," he gestured between them, "is wrong. you may very well be the only thing I've ever done right."
This is a story where you see love grow from the ground up. You see Andie blossom and really find herself. She always knew who she was, but she was afraid to show it. It was nice to see her let go, but grab a hold of life at the same time. This is WAY UP there on my favorites list.
"No plan. No itinerary. Just you and me."
Absolutely amazing. I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVED this book.
SO. DAMN. MUCH.
Firstly, I need to tell everyone how much I freaking LOVE Priscilla Glenn. Seriously, she is one of the most incredible authors I have ever had the privilege of ‘meeting’. Not only is she the sweetest thing ever, her words on paper are absolutely flawless.

“We judge people by our own standards of happiness … What makes you happy might not make that woman over there happy. But human beings have a terrible habit of thinking they know what’s best for each other. ”

Chase – wow – I think he is my favourite hero out of all of Priscilla Glenn’s books. The arrogance, smart mouth, ‘I will live the way I want’ attitude was totally hot. I wouldn’t normally be attracted to a guy like that but with Chase, I don’t know, there was just something so incredibly sexy about that in him.

“Are you gonna put your shirt back on?” she blurted out.
Chase froze, looking over his shoulder at her with the most maddening smile. “Why? Is this bothering you?”
“I just…” Andie sputtered, floundering through her response. “I mean, what if we get pulled over or something?”
“If we get pulled over, this could only work in your favor,” he said, running his hands over his chest.
Andie tried to stifle a laugh. “My God, you’re insufferable.”
***
See? Totally hot.
This story was really really well written. You can tell that Priscilla spends so much time mapping out where she wants to go with a plot and every single detail along the way. Her words; the meanings behind everything, are just perfect.
***
“You look new right now,” he finally said.
“New?”
He nodded. “Like you just discovered yourself.” Andie felt something jolt through her veins as he added, “It’s hard to explain, but I wish you could see it. It looks good on you.”

I feel like Priscilla changes my life with every book she writes. She’s one of the most incredible story tellers. Her words hit me so deeply that sometimes I find myself shedding a tear because I realise that even though this is fiction, the real emotion coming through the pages feels more like someones real life fairytale. And I want to be those characters!
This is a book I wish I could read for the first time all over again.
The feels. ohh all the feels!!! Priscilla sure knows how to make you hurt from the inside out. I swear at times my chest hurt so much I was seriously worried. But I cannot explain to you how much I LOVE these kinds of books. They are so amazing.
You all need to read this book. Honestly.
It’s amazing.
Priscilla, I freaking love you.
That is all.
