I loved this. It had a different "feel" than the first story, but the characters changed so much in the first one, I completely understand it being different. Just like Undermountain, though, Eric did a great job of weaving an intriguing tale and creating memorable characters. I've been putting off buying the third book solely for the reason that I don't have time to sit down and read it in one day, because I'm pretty sure that is what will happen the moment it lands on my kindle. It is definitely on my to purchase list for the future, and I look forward to seeing how this series ends up and what happens to our dear characters. Another great job from Eric Kent Edstrom.

This is the second book in the series, and there is no less excitement in this story. Once again the author takes us on a wild ride. I couldn't put the book down, and now that I've read it I can't wait for the final book. If you love science fiction, you should read this series!
In this second installment of the Undermountain series, Eric Edstrom, takes Danny, Breyona, Em, Wa, Shiv and the others back to Undermountain, to Egypt, and beyond. The characters face life changing, life or death, even life AND death situations. We discover new races, adventure, danger, and romance while unlocking ancient mysteries.

The second book opens up the worlds of Undermountain as compelling science fiction on a truly epic scale. As you read, it becomes exciting to imagine the big screen, block-buster adaptation. What's more impressive is that the storytelling, plot twists, and character development taken to an even higher level than book one.

If you read Undermountain then this is a must-read. If you haven't read Undermountain then get you might as well buy this one too. If you read one, you will read them both and wait in anticipation for Volume 3!
Very good series, enjoyable characters, quick pacing. Made me look forward to book three. I do not read much science fiction but glad I gave this series a try.
This is the second installment of the Undermountain Saga, the story of a group of teens that hike into the mountains with a guide and walk right into the adventure of their lifetimes. Wonderful story that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Read it. You won't be sorry...
This book was another page turner as both my 9 year old son and I read with anticipation what would happen to the main cast of characters. Knowing there is a third book to come, gives an understanding that not ALL of the questions a reader might have will be answered in this book. Afterlife is a great sequel to Undermountain, but it could stand on its own too. The drama, suspense and adventure are all there to keep the reader engaged and wondering what will happen next.
I read this book in two days (and I would have finished it in one if I had started it over the weekend). Fast-paced, adventurous, appropriately-detailed, and simply a fantastic continuation of the series... And there's an awesome "cliff-hanger" at the end. Edstrom has me totally hooked on the world and story that he's built in the series so far, and I'm chomping at the bit waiting for the next book to be released.

Make sure to also read Undermountain (the first book in the series). Obviously, the second book will make more sense... and it's a good read as well!
